NOTES: | Note 1: Lesley Muir, from the Canterbury & District Historical Society, identified the lady in the centre as Mrs Frances Guttridge and the lady on the right as Mrs Rose Attenborough. Lesley also provided the information that Mrs Guttridge was the the first treasurer for the Campsie Red Cross and that Mrs Guttridge's son, Frederick A. enlisted in August 1915. Thanks to this information from Lesley, we now believe this could be the original postcard Mrs Guttridge sent her son all those years ago. Frederick A. was born in 1898 and so could have been no older then 17 years when he enlisted. |
